Quantum was set up by two manufacturing professionals, Mark Smith and Andrew Parsons, to deliver a best in class end point assessment service at the request of a number of leading levy-paying employers. Mark and Andrew together have over 50 years practical experience of applying improvement techniques and training in a range of organisations, mainly in the Automotive and wider Advanced Manufacturing and Engineering Sectors.
Mark is a highly experienced senior quality professional, with director-level automotive experience in both original equipment manufacturers and supply chain. He has initiated and led transformational programmes in diversity and inclusion, supplier measurement and training and is driven by a belief in the vital importance of developing the skills and capability of people.
Andrew was Technical Skills Training Lead for Toyota Manufacturing UK Ltd. Toyota is, of course, the world leader in ‘lean’ manufacturing and Andrew has developed a detailed knowledge of ‘lean’ techniques including problem solving and process improvement. Andrew was instrumental in the set up and running of the Auto Sector ‘Trailblazer’ group since its inception in 2013, and was a member of the industry ‘Skills Working Group’, in which he led the ‘Improvement’ work stream of the Auto Industry Industrial Partnership which delivered standardised improvement training to over 20 companies and 300+ delegates.
